Festivalito Abierta: Saturday 7th October, 5pm - midnight

On Saturday 7th October, we have a special "Festivalito" event, featuring 7 hours of Tango goodness, with special guest teachers: Laura Grandi + Facundo Gallo! We have two specialist workshops and a performance from our Maestros, and a full Milonga Abierta in the evening.


Workshop 1: 5:15pm - 6:15pm: Technique for Leaders and Followers

Laura and Facundo will demonstrate and teach some fabulous technique, for both leaders and followers, to enhance and improve your dancing.


Workshop 2: 6:30pm - 7:30pm: Sequences for the Dance Floor

Laura and Facundo will focus on providing several delicious sequences you can use on the dance floor.


About Our Teachers

Laura Grandi

Laura is a classically-trained professional dancer and teacher, highly appreciated for her elegance, style and sensuality. She has danced from the age of 6, and has studied intensively under great Argentine masters, including Osvaldo Zotto, Raul Bravo, Roberto Herrera, and many others.

She has performed in many shows, TV and film programmes, festivals and other events, both in Italy and throughout the world.

She has organised local and international festivals, including the 'Milonga de oro' event.

in her professional dance career, Laura has specialised in dynamics of movement, teaching, technique and choreography

Laura Grandi lives in Rome where she continues to organize tango events and collaborate with great artists from the international scene.

Facundo Gallo

Facundo Gallo is Lead Dancer of the most prestigious Tango Show in Buenos Aires, "Esquina Carlos Gardel", which he joined as a cast member in 2004.

Facundo started studying tango in 1996 at the "José Neglia Dance School" in Morón. Facundo has studied under teachers including Juan Carlos and Stella Maris, Pablo Nievas, Oscar Mandagarán, Silvio Lavia, Nito and Elba, Jorge "El Pardo Vieyra", and Juan Carlos Copes. Facundo has been teaching Tango since 2001 across the world.

In 2009 he was invited to participate in the Homage to "Juan Carlos Copes", who was named "dancer of the century", which was held at Teatro Avenida, sponsored by the Government of the City of Buenos Aires for the opening of the World Cup. Tango 2009. In that same year, the dancer José Castro calls him as assistant director of the show "Paris" presented in the city of Buenos Aires.

In 2008, Facundo won the title of "World Tango Champion", and performed in the show "Tango Libertad" in Tokyo.

In 2007 he performed at the "Kremlin" theater in Russia with the show "Solo Tango The Show". With this same show he toured in different countries of Latin America, includin Chile, Brazil, Peru and Ecuador.

In 2006 he was part of the cast of the legendary "Tango X2" Company directed by the dancer and choreographer Miguel Angel Zotto, performing at Honk Kong, Macau, Italy, London and New York. In 2005, he was part of the cast of the successful company "Tango Fire", touring in countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa.


Milonga Abierta

"Abierta" means "Open". Our Learning Tango milonga, in our lovely Apsley venue, is open. Open to all dancers, all levels, all styles, and all tango music.

If you want to dance and enjoy yourself in a truly open environment, with friendly and welcoming group of fellow tango dancers, this is the place for you.

Apsley Community Centre is a large hall, with a great atmosphere including a lovely dance floor, and full facilities, and plenty of free parking nearby.

Getting there

Apsley Community Centre, London Road, Apsley, Hemel Hempstead, Herts HP3 9SB.

By Car

From London: take the M25 to Junction 20, then take the A41 exit to Hemel Hempstead / Aylesbury. Take the A41 north for approx 2.5 miles, then take the A414 Hemel exit. Turn right at the roundabout towards Hemel (A414). At the lights, turn right onto the A4251. Follow the A4251 for 0.5 miles and the Community Centre is on the left. Turn left onto Durrants Hill Road for parking.

From the North: take the A41 south, then take the A414 Hemel exit, and follow instructions as above.

Parking

There is some on-street parking near the venue, and there is plenty of free parking on the local car park on Durrant's Hill Road, just past the venue (1 minute walk).

By public Transport

Apsley railway station is approximately 0.5 miles from the Community Centre. From the train station, turn left and walk up the A2251, and the centre is on your right.
